AI for SMEs: start in a day, without in-house IT.

Large corporations have AI teams; SMEs have handbooks, wikis and full inboxes. RAGSuite makes that knowledge available by question, with a source on every answer. In the RAGSuite Engine you start without servers of your own, with a data centre in Germany.

Key takeaways

  • AI for SMEs helps first where the same questions keep coming: HR, IT, sales, service.
  • According to the IAB, one in four businesses in Germany used generative AI in 2025.
  • In RAGSuite Engine you start without servers, with a data centre in Germany.
  • You pay a fixed monthly price per plan, no price per question.
Where things stand

Where do SMEs stand with AI?

According to the IAB establishment panel, one in four businesses in Germany used generative AI in 2025: two years earlier it was one in twenty. The gap by size is clear: 48 per cent of businesses with 200 or more employees, 21 per cent of those with fewer than ten.

Will is rarely the problem. Usually time, IT capacity and a clear answer to where the data goes are missing. That is exactly where a ready platform run in Germany helps.

Cost

What does AI cost for an SME?

The RAGSuite Engine comes in plans. A team of 20 uses the Business plan for €169 a month billed yearly (€195 billed monthly), plus VAT. Credits and storage are shared by everyone in the workspace. There is no price per user and no price per question.

If you have your own IT, you can run the free Community Edition on your own server and only pay for the server and the language model.

Data protection

Data protection in plain words: where does your data go?

In RAGSuite Engine, documents, search index and history live in a data centre in Germany. The provider is a German company. Only the question and the matching passages go to the language model, never whole documents; you see the model’s location when you choose it. Your data trains no model.

You can switch off conversation storage or delete it automatically. That makes agreement with data protection and the works council easier.

Support

AI consulting for SMEs, or start on your own?

Many start on their own in the RAGSuite Engine. If you want support, you get it from us or from a regional RAGSuite partner, from the first workshop to rollout.

FAQ

Questions about AI for SMEs.

How can small and mid-sized businesses use AI?

Fastest through knowledge that already exists: handbooks, policies, product data and the website. Your team asks in plain language and gets answers with sources. Typical starting points are HR, IT service and customer service. With the RAGSuite Engine you need neither servers of your own nor an AI team.

What does AI cost for a mid-sized company?

The RAGSuite Engine comes in plans from €39 a month, with no setup fee and no price per question. A pilot with one team is easy to budget. If you want to run it yourself, use the free Community Edition and pay for server and model.

Do we need our own IT department for AI?

No. In the RAGSuite Engine we run the platform for you: updates, backups and the data centre are included. Your team uploads documents, sets the behaviour and invites colleagues. You only need your own IT if you want to run RAGSuite on your own servers.

Is AI for SMEs compatible with data protection?

Yes, if it is clear which data goes where. In RAGSuite Engine your data stays in Germany, only the question and matching passages go to the language model, and storage can be switched off. Clarify the use with your data protection officer. This is not legal advice.

How long does the rollout take?

The first test takes one day: create an account, upload documents, ask questions. A pilot with one team usually runs four to six weeks; then you know which questions are answered well and which content is missing. Rolling out to more teams is faster, because sources and rules are already in place.

Who helps us with the rollout?

You can start on your own, with our guide and a demo. If you want more support, you get it from our team or from a regional RAGSuite partner, such as a digital agency or an IT service provider. Partners can take on the workshop, setup and training of your teams.
