In plain words

What is an “AI licence”, and do you need one?

“KI-Führerschein” (AI driving licence) is what many providers in Germany call their AI training courses, often with a certificate at the end. The term sounds official but is not defined by law.

What the law requires is in Article 4 of the EU AI Act: companies that provide or use AI must take measures to promote their staff’s AI literacy. No certificate or exam is required. A self-test like this one shows where your team stands and where training should start.

FAQ

Questions about the AI literacy test.

What is an “AI driving licence”?

“KI-Führerschein” (AI driving licence) is a common German term for training courses that teach the basics of working with AI, often with a certificate of attendance. It is not a legally defined qualification.

Is an AI licence mandatory?

No. Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires measures to promote AI literacy, but no certificate and no exam. Training, policies and briefings can all be such measures; document them.

Is the participation record a certificate?

No. It only confirms that someone completed this self-test with a given score. It can be one part of your Article 4 documentation, but it does not replace training.

Are my answers stored?

No. The test runs in your browser. Only if you request the participation record do you send us your name, email and score through the form.

Can my whole team take the test?

Yes. Send the link to your team and then discuss the questions that were often answered wrongly. That is a good starting point for training.

What is an AI quiz?

An AI quiz uses short questions to check how well someone knows the basics, risks and rules of AI. This test explains after every answer what is right and why.
